Looking for any information regarding Levi William Hutton ( "Al" ) b. 1860 Iowa, resided town of Wallace, Shoshone Co. Idaho 1885 - 1915 ? In 1887 he married May (Arkwright). Both Levi and May were orphaned in early childhood, and they opened their own home to children who were lost, orphaned or just downright unfortunate. In 1917 they bought property in Spokane for a farm. It is my understanding that he also maintained a farm in Idaho, whereabouts unknown. The farms were run by unfortunate children of Idaho & Washington much like an orphanage. I am trying to locate the farm in Idaho. I have heard it may have been in Kootenai Co.-- If I can get a location, I will be able to look them up on the 1910 census to see if there is a list of inmates names. I am searching for a record of my father Joseph Buster Chandler b. 1899.

Coeur d' Alene, Idaho Query - Seeking information on my G. G. Uncle, Solomon M. SHIREY, b. 13 Jan. or Feb. 1834, near Mayport -North Freedom area, Armstrong Co. PA. He died 30 Nov. 1925, in a Soldiers Home, Los Angeles, CA. He is buried there in a Military Cemetery. Solomon first married: 1 April 1857, to Mary M. ALSBACH, of Ohio. She died per his Military Pension file records [ #285882] from National Archives, Washington, D. C. - Civil War Veteran] on 2 Sept. 1886. However, gravestone in LaPlata, MO. states she died in 1885. To her he had following issue:

1. Anson Casey, b. 2 Nov. 1858, Park Twp., St. Joseph Co. Mich. He died 17 Sept. 1861, per stone, but his father's Civil War application for pension states 16 Nov. 1861. Buried at E. U. B. (now U. M.) Cemetery, Centerpark, MI.
2. Sarah Ellen, b. 17 Aug. 1861, need marriage, who, when, where, death, where, burial, etc. & family
3. Otis D. b. 26 June 1865, d. 25 Sept. 1882 (per his mother's letters) but, gravestone in LaPlata Mo. Cemetery has same date, but states he died in 1881.
4. Julia R. b. 2 Oct. 1867 (need same data as # 2 above)
5. James E. b. 23 Sept. 1869, [ He had lived with the John NETTLETON Family until 1921] James was living in L. A. when his father died at the Knox Hotel.
6. Lillie M. b. 20 Sept. 1871 (need same data as # 2 above)
7. Hiram O. b. 10 May 1873, (need same data as # 2 above - but told he had never married, where buried, etc.??) Per Marion NETTLETON, a grandson of Hannah's, Hiram took his father to California.
8. Blanch O. b. 17 July 1875, LaPlata, MO. (need same data as # 2 above)
Solomon states he lived: 1865 - 1880 in Michigan; 1880 - 1886 in Missouri; 1886 - 1899 in Montana; 1899 - 1906 in Coer d' Alene, this County, Idaho, and 1906 -1912 in Washington. He had remarried # 2 = Emma G. GRUBBER, what happened to her?? Where did they marry?? He remarried # 3 on 20 Dec. 1909, Hannah L. (HAVEN) NETTLETON, a widow, of Coer d' Alene, Kootenai, Co. Idaho, whom he met while living in a Soldier's Home in Orting, Washington. [Witnesses: John C. & Mary B. NETTLETON] Hannah was buried in Coer d' Alene, but has no gravestone per a Mr. Marion NETTLETON, 13 June 1972, when I'd corresponded with him. I was informed the SHIREY'S lived across the Alley from the First Baptist Church, which Solomon helped to build and they both attended. Hannah has her name on one of the colored windows in the Church. Solomon M. SHIREY, By a Deed dated 26 Sept. 1912, had Lot # 12, Block # 25 in Coeur d' Alene in the Kings addition there to. He sold it on 2 Jan. 1919.

Jeanne Katherine Thompson King
My grandparents, Marie and Bern Thompson, homesteaded on the Coeur D'Alene Indian Reservation when it was opened to white settlement. They moved there sometime in the late 1890's to early 1900's. My father, Paul Raymond Thompson, was born in Coeur D'Alene on August 29, 1910. My grandparents built a cabin on their claim. I have a parceled map of the Coeur D'Alene Reservation but I don't know what parcel my grandparents had. I also don't know when or why they moved from Idaho, so I would be interested in any deed information from the 1910's regarding the sale of their parcel. I know they moved to Washington State and then settled in San Jose, CA around the time my father was 13, which would be around 1923. I'd appreciate any information about my ancestors time in Idaho, such as parcel claims, deeds, property sales and births.

26 September, 1999 William R. Walters

I know that my uncle Albert W. Mason and his wife Bertha Montgomery Mason lived in Coeur d'Alene for many years, but I have no idea what their entry date is, nor do I know his death date. Bertha returned to Dickinson, ND after the death of her husband. She died there Nov. 16, 1960. Albert Mason worked as a contractor. I find them in Beach Village, ND in the 1910 census, and a plat map for Hettinger County, ND, dated 1917 has a section marked Albert Mason as owner. I remember him as a cattleman in Regent and Dickinson when I was a young lad, but after I entered the service I lost track of them. I think he died sometime between 1943 and 1954. Any information connecting the Masons to Coeur d'Alene in Kootenai County would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hello,
We are looking for the gravesite of WILLIS J. TOWNE (died before 1929), who was buried in a cemetery in Coeur d Alene. His wife is buried right along side of him and her name is ISABEL TOWNE. We are trying to find out the maiden name of the wife Isabel Towne who died around 1930's. We wondered how many cemeteries are actually in the town of Coeur d Alene? Does each cemetery have their gravesites listed in a computer where it can search for the deceased. Do you have any idea? Also, what is the name of the funeral home that would have records back to the 1930's in Couer d Alene?

I have just recently learned that my cousin lived in Spirit Lake in 1924. Bertha Hazel McConahey Franklin (Mrs Harold Franklin). They had married in Spokane in 1920. I'm trying to find out when Harold Franklin died - as she remarried Ingwald Anton Tronsrud and they went on to live in Grand Coulee WA where she died in 1945. Bertha was a schoolteacher and would have been 28 in 1924. Can you give me some names of libraries - court houses - historical societies - where I might find an obit for Harold Franklin - OR - a divorce or a remarriage listed.

My ggggrandparents were Jerome and A.M. (Aminda) Boyington. I don't know where or when either were born or died. They had a daughter, my gggrandmother, Catherine Amanda that married Sylvester PICKETT in Dodge MN. They also lived in Ashley MN. Catherine and Sylvester divorced after having three children, one of which is my ggrandmother. After the divorce, Catherine remarried (Nicholas FARRINGTON), and along with her parents (BOYINGTONS) and her brothers, Amasa and Edgar PICKETT, moved to Rathdrum, Idaho. They were living in Rathdrum at the time of my ggreatmother's death that took place in Colfax WA in 1898. Catherine died in Bellingham, Washington but I have no idea what happened to the BOYINGTONS. I found an entry in my grandmother's diaries that states that she and her husband visited Rathdrum in the early 50s and found people that remembered the three families. My grandmother also visited the farm the Boyingtons worked but all the buildings were gone. I have information that a Caroline BOYINGTON, d. abt 1899, is buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Rathdrum. Her husband's name was Henry BOYINGTON and they had a son, Earry, that was thirteen in 1900. I have no idea if Henry, Caroline and Earry are related to my BOYINGTONS. Any information on any of these people would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Janet Enloe - Great Falls, MT

I do hope I find them as I am going to Washington state later this month and would dearly like to find them before I head west.

Judy Knutsen Woods
I am doing research on my father's family. The Knutsen (sometimes spelled "Knutson") family moved from Wisconsin to Harrison in the late 1800s. One or two children may have died while the family resided in Harrison. I am seeking information concerning births, deaths, marriages, work history, stories about the family, etc. It is my hope to assemble a family tree book for my father's 80th birthday. Other surnames which may be familiar are: Hendrickson, Waldo, Remlinger, Esslinger, and Edwards.

Lloyd and Sue Robinson
I am seeking information on two ancestors who lived in Coeur d'Alene in the early 1900s. Cassius M.C. Robinson married Eva Hubbard in Coeur d'Alene, February 27, 1904. Both Cassius and Eva are listed in the 1910 census for Bonner County as living in Spirit Valley. Cassius and Eva homesteaded in Saskatchewan, Canada in 1912, but later returned to Coeur d'Alene. My understanding is that some time after they returned, Cassius (Cash) Robinson became a Senator in Idaho (presumably at the State level), and I am particularly interested in finding out anything which can confirm this fact.

I am also seeking information on his brother, Charles Burdette Robinson, who also lived in Coeur d'Alene in the early 1900s, and is listed in the 1910 census for Kootenai County, Idaho. Charles Robinson and his family also emigrated from Idaho to Saskatchewan about 1912, but did not return. I understand that Charles Burdette (Bob) Robinson ran a general store in Coeur d'Alene about 1910. The store probably included a tobacco shop and pool hall. I would be most grateful if you have any information on either of these two ancestors of my husband. Many thanks, Sue Robinson

Vernon Heyer
My grandmother, Elizabeth Heyer, was buried in Pine Grove Cemetary Aug. 12, 1910, with the services apparently handled by Cassedy-Penman Funeral Home. Could you tell me if they are still in existence; or if not, who might have their records. I'm trying to find out where she was born - I know in Wisconsin, but have never been able to determine which county or town. I thought there may be a possibility of some sort of record there that might include that information. I found her and my grandfather's names in the Kootenai County books compiled by the Shanes last week in Boise, as well as a small article in the Rathdrum Tribune of that date. Any information or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Vern Heyer - Melba, Id.

I am researching the Lansdon family of Mann Creek and Weiser. My gg-grandfather was Sylvester Lansdon who married Lucy Taylor in Idaho in 1873. I am also researching the family of Lafayette Lansdon. I believe that he was Sylvester's uncle. I have not been able to locate who Lucy Taylor's parents were. I believe they were from the same area. Lucy was born in IL and died in 1881 in childbirth. Sylvester later remarried and then was divorced by Ella A. Jeffreys, daughter of Woodson Jeffreys. If anyone has any information on the Lansdon or Taylor family I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thank you,  Abby Vargas
