resident of Rathdrum died last evening at a local hospital. The body is at the
Cassedy Funeral Home and funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of a

CALLIS, Maude
DEATH OF MRS. CALLIS Mrs. Maude Callis,
aged 19 years died last night from perotinitis at the home of her sister in law
Mrs. Annie Cox, about two miles north west of the city. The funeral will be held
Friday morning at 10 o’clock from the funeral parlors of Cassedy and Nelson.
Interment to follow in Forest cemetery. Rev. F. E. Hudson of the First Baptist
church will be the officiating minister. The deceased is survived by her husband
and two young children and four brothers, Arthur, Fred, Howard and Alva father,
that reside here and in Oregon. Those together with three brothers of Mr.
Callis, will be present at the services.

Mrs. Hattie May Carter.
Following an illness of several months, Mrs. Hattie May Carter, 72, died this
morning at her home at Post Falls. Born in Maine, she came to this locality in
1889 from that state. Survivors are her husband, W. A. Carter at home; two
daughters, Mrs. Lois Medley of McGuire and Miss Bessie M. Carter of Dayton,
Wash.; a sister Mrs. Bessie Engers of Post Falls; a niece, Mrs. Lois May
Blankenhorn of Bozeman, Mont., and a grandson, Marc Allan Medley of Post Falls.
The English Yates Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

GRAY, Bertha
BERTHA GRAY Bertha Gray, 83, Rathdrum died this morning at a local
nursing home. She was born Bertha Mulford on Aug. 15, 1892, at Jefferson City,
Mo. And came to Washington at age 13. She married William Gray, Waterville,
Wash., June 12, 1912. They moved to Rathdrum in 1938 and lived there since that
time. Mr. Gray died in 1968. Survivors are two sons, Ronald Gray of Coeur d’
Alene and Harold Gray, Coolin, ID; five daughters, Mrs. Ella Knapp of Coeur d’
Alene, Mrs. Bonnie Gaines of Coeur d’ Alene, Mrs. Betty Sylte, Mrs. Darlene
Jordon and Mrs. Shirley Willadsen, all of Rathdrum; 25 grandchildren and 25
great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Yates Funeral Home

MRS. BONNIE GRAY CALLED BY DEATH Following an extended
illness, Mrs. Bonnie Dell Gray, 72, died Sunday at a local hospital. The family
home is at 744 Military drive. Surviving her are four sons and six daughters,
Will Gray of Rathdrum, Arch, Wiatt and Max Gray, Mrs. Carl Ween of this city,
Mrs. W. P. Nilles of Kapowsin, Wash., Mrs. Mary Brownlee of Carltons, Wash.,
Mrs. Fern Mitchell in California, Mrs. Irene Brent of Orting, Wash., and Mrs.
Ida Pair of Carbonado, Wash., several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 o’clock from the Cassedy Funeral home
with the Rev. O. Davis of Spokane officiating. Interment will be in Forest

GRAY, Gerald
DEATH OF GERALD GRAY ATTRIBUTED TO SHOCK Gerald Gray, 13 year old son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Gray, 102 Young avenue died late yesterday afternoon about 30
minutes after he had fallen from a truck driven by his father. His death was
attributed to shock caused by the fall as an examination showed that he was not
seriously injured. A younger brother who fell from the truck at the same time
was uninjured. The accident occurred about 3 o’clock when the truck was being
driven in the alley near Military drive just back of Mr. Gray’s brother’s home.
The lad was taken to his uncle's house and the doctor called immediately.
Besides his parents he is survived by 10 brothers and sisters; Geraldine, his
twin sister, Alberta, Ella, Bobbie, Betty, Darlene, Ronald, Harold, Herbert and
Kenneth. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 o’clock from the Cassedy
Funeral Home, Rev. Ralph J. Thomas will officiate. Interment will be in Forest

RATHDRUM MAN TAKEN BY DEATH William L. Gray, 80, Rathdrum, died Saturday at a
nursing home here. He was a retired logging contractor. Mr. Gray was born at
Somerset, Ky., and married the former Bertha Mulford at Waterville, Wash., June
18, 1912. Survivors are his widow, at the home; three sons, Ronald, at home,
Herbert, Osburn, Idaho, and Harold, Coolin; six daughters, Mrs. Wilma Poole,
Spokane, Mrs. Chester Sylte, Rathdrum, Mrs. Ralph Jordon, Coolin, Mrs. Marvin
Willadson, Rathdrum, Mrs. Clifford Gaines and Mrs. Ella Knapp, Coeur d’ Alene;
six sisters, Mrs. Pat Moore, Portland, Mrs. Jean Nellis, Orting, Wash., Mrs.
Frank Martens, Tacoma, Mrs. Fleetice Brownlee, Seattle, Mrs. Don Paar, Buckley,
Wash. And Mrs. (can’t read), Wash.; two brothers, Max Gray, Seattle, and Archie
Gray, Coeur d’ Alene; 26 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

RITCHEY, Ina B.
INA B. RITCHEY,
LONG TIME LOCAL RESIDENT, DIES Mrs. Ina B. Ritchey, 96, who has lived in Coeur
d’ Alene since 1919 when she was widowed, died early today at the home of a
daughter, Mrs. Anna Edminster, 743 Fourth St. The former Ina B. Scott was born
in West Virginia May 10, 1862 and following the end of the Civil war moved with
her family to Missouri. Twelve years later the family moved to Eureka, Calif.,
going by train to San Francisco and by boat to Eureka. Their next move came to
years later when they traveled by wagon to Farmington, Wash., where she married
William G. Ritchey in 1881. Mr. and Mrs. Ritchey resided there for many years
and then moved to Nampa where he died eight years later. Mrs. Ritchey was the
oldest of a family of 12 children. Besides her daughter here, survivors are a
daughter, Mrs. Ethel Ford, Kellog; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Powell, Spokane; four
grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was a

ST.CLAIR, Louis
SERVICES TOMORROW FOR LOUIS ST. CLAIR Funeral services
will be held tomorrow at 10 o’clock at the Cassedy Funeral Home for Louis St.
Clair, 68, who died at his home Saturday evening. Rev. R. J. Hunter will
officiate and interment will be at Forest cemetery. He had lived here for the
last four years coming from Harrison Flats where he had resided since 1910.
Surviving him are his widow, Ethel; three sons and two daughters; Norman, Lloyd,
Hazel and Mildred St. Clair at home. Arthur at Black lake; a sister Mrs.
Caroline Renshaw and two brothers William and John in Canada.
